While it could be debated whether or not Apple Maps is better than its competitors, it’s an easy to use app that is built into every iOS device. When navigating and playing music with Apple Maps, it can be infuriating if the navigation volume is too quiet and your music over takes, or vice versa.

How to change navigation volume in Apple Maps
- On your iPhone, head over to Settings > Maps > Driving & Navigation.
- Under Navigation Voice Volume you can now change the volume of the navigation.
Depending on which option you choose, iOS will automatically raise or lower the navigation voice and/or your media playback. For example, setting it to Loud Volume will reduce the media volume but also increase the voice volume when needed, while something like Low Volume will equal out both navigation and media volumes and play those at the same level.
Another option is to simply disable the voice in general and rely on visual cues to navigate.

Sound Settings
If the audio stops working properly in macOS, the first thing you should do is to go to System Preferences > Sound > Output and check your sound settings. Make sure that your settings are correct.

Reset Core Audio
You may want to reset the Core Audio process. Here is how:

Reset PRAM / NVRAM
Speaker volume information is stored in PRAM (on older Macs) or NVRAM (on newer Intel-based Macs). Resetting this may resolve your problem. Here is how:
- You may want to print these steps, as the process involves turning off your Mac.
- Turn off your Mac (Apple menu > Shut Down…).
- Press the power button to turn on your computer.
- press and hold the Command, Option, P, and R keys at the same time, after you hear the startup sound. Note that it is important you press these keys before the Apple logo appears.
- Keep holding the keys until your Mac restarts.
- When you hear the second startup sound, release the keys.
You may also want to reset SMC.
Update your Mac
Make sure that you are running the latest version of macOS. You can easily update your Mac by going to System Preferences > Software Update. And if there is an update available, follow the onscreen instructions.
If your Mac is running macOS High Sierra or earlier, then open the App Store app on your Mac to update your Mac.
